The Sartell Historical Society has been added to the Research locations listings.
The Sartell Historical Society was incorporated in 2007. It is a nonprofit organization holding an institutional membership with the Minnesota Historical Society.
Currently, the Sartell Historical Society is collecting memorabilia, photos, and documenting peoples stories and memories of Sartell.
We are working toward regular newsletters and ultimately would like to have a Heritage Center with a museum and research center.

On Thursday, Ancestry.com unveils more than 90 million U.S. war records from the first English settlement at Jamestown in 1607 through the Vietnam War’s end in 1975. The site also has the names of 3.5 million U.S. soldiers killed in action, including 2,000 who died in Iraq. #
Quite a good deal for non-payers, but you’ll have to act fast to gather information.

The Stearns History Museum announces the release of a new local DVD “Sesquicentennial: A Year in Review.” Produced by the St. Cloud Media Division, this 2-DVD set details St. Cloud’s sesquicentennial. Featured are St. Cloud’s founder John L. Wilson; a history of St. Cloud with a gathering of living former mayors, and St. Cloud sesquicentennial events including the Bridgefest Celebration, time capsule burial, and a visit to St. Cloud’s sister city, Spalt, Germany. The DVD is approx. 2 hours in length and is available for sale at the Stearns History Museum Store for $19.95.
A new book, “The History of Sartell: Lumber, Paper, Valves, and Progress” is now available for purchase at the Stearns History Museum. Produced by the Sartell Centennial Committee, the book details the history of Sartell from 1907 to 2007 starting with its early settlement, development of commerce including Dezurik, and the Mississippi River. The 258-page hardcover book sells for $34.95 at the Stearns History Museum Store.

Holdingford is in the process of starting a historical society. Our next meeting is Monday, Feburary 5th, 7:00pm. at the Corner Pizza and Antiques, we are going to continue to move through the procedures of getting a proper structure. Tim Glines, Manager of Outreach Services, for The Minnesota Historical Society will be our guest.
Our regular meetings will be the first Monday of the month, 7:00p.m. at The Corner Pizza on Main Street.
The Sauk Centre Area Historical Society will hold an Annual Meeting on January 9, 2007 at 5:30 with everyone ordering their own meals with the meeting to follow.

The Stearns History Museum announces the release of a new local DVD “Lake George: A History of Change and Adaptation.” Produced by the St. Cloud Media Division, this DVD tells the story of Lake George from when it was first surveyed in 1855 when it was 7 1/2 blocks long and 3 blocks wide through present day. Detailed are the changes at Lake George over the years including the development of Eastman Park, the Municipal pool and bath house, and the original warming house up through the present revitalization project. The DVD is available for sale at the Stearns History Museum Store or www.stearns.history.museum for $14.95.
